2 Seater Sofas for Smaller Spaces

May 23rd, 2010 by Jane R.

If you like the style and comfort of a couch but lack enough space, consider 2 seater sofas. They can be placed in spaces where couches are too big or too long. Breaking up a sitting area into smaller sections may also make the room look larger.

Many styles, colors and materials are used for this type of seating. Some models are made as sectionals, so they may be corner pieces or straight, with an adjacent matching piece. Some are made with pull out beds for sleeping. Other choices include matching ottomans or foot rests. Futon models offer the same styles as their full size cousins, with plenty of sleeping area. There are even some with built-in recliners, cup holders and storage compartments, for remotes or snacks.

Regardless of the features, this seating should be functional, yet work with your decor. Because they are smaller than full size options, you may be able to move the selected piece around a bit, if you are unsure exactly where to place it. 2 seater sofas allow you to do more with room decor, with their smaller size. With more than one piece, you can arrange them adjacent to each other or across from each other, to draw attention to a fireplace or a special coffee table.

Fabrics available on two seater sofas include leather, microfiber, weave and any others that are seen on full size couches. They may have tufted backs or more traditional curves. Contemporary styles may include steel accents or frame. For an ultra contemporary look, there are those models with arms as high as the back, which gives them a more cozy, intimate feel.

This seating is great for small families or for extra seating in an office. Think about the kind of sofa you would like when selecting the desired model. 2 seater sofas come in as many styles and models as the larger sizes.
