A well-decorated home can be inspiring. Everything has its place, and the elegant home décor gives the home a tasteful, yet inviting look to it. You may think that these kinds of homes are only found in magazines, but the truth is that just about anyone can put together a living room décor that looks sharp and stylish. It just takes a bit of money, some good ideas, and some new home accents.

One of the quickest ways to update a room and create the elegant look is to take a look at the color of your rooms. What color are they? White is often a bit too plain, but a light beige, a cream, or a very light yellow color can make your home décor seem elegant and nice. It may be time for you to add a fresh coat of paint to your walls.

Another way to make your house look as though it came from a modern home décor magazine is to coordinate your home accents. This includes lighting, frames on the wall, throw pillows, furniture, and any other items in the room. You don’t want the room to look cluttered, so keep the room free of junk and stick to the pieces of furniture you like best.

You also want your accent pieces to add something to the room. Throw pillows of different sizes and shapes can add interest to the room, as long as they look good together. A vase of flowers can also beautify a room. Your accents don’t all have to be in the same color family, either. Sometimes a standout piece in a wildly different (but complimentary) color can have a huge impact.

Window treatments are another way to add to the elegant look of your room. The window area is one place you don’t want to skimp on home decor accessories. Window treatments and coverings can be expensive, but the right one can give your home a rich, elegant look to it.

The type of furniture you have and the way you arrange it can also make a difference. Your furniture doesn’t have to be brand new, but if your sofas are looking threadbare, it may be time to update your living room décor. There are many elegant pieces of furniture that can make your home shine. You can also add some unique decorations to spice things up a little. Some of your options for interesting furniture pieces or decorations include an entryway table or an led gooseneck reading lamp.

You don’t have to be rich to give your home an elegant look. And you don’t have to know everything about interior decorating, but it helps to know something. Look around in decorating magazines and see what you like, and then try to recreate something similar in your home. Elegant home décor looks wonderful and makes your home more inviting.

Gardening by the positions and phases of the Moon is as old as mankind.  Although it seems easy to dismiss the idea as rubbish, scientific studies have shown that there could be more to lunar gardening than superstition.  This, of course, is nothing new to experienced garden owners; but for the city dweller or the beginner it can prove enlightening.

Scientific Experiments

Scientist Clark Timmins carried out tests on planting and transplanting to find out if the zodiac sign of the had any influence on these activities.  These tests were made in accordance with scientific rules to remove the possibility of other factors such as temperature and soil type influencing the outcome. In addition, the lunar phase of the moon was not considered for planting.  Dr. Timmins’ findings were remarkable.

Planting by the Moon

What Dr. Timmins found was that planting was more or less successful depending on the zodiac position of the Moon  In the tests, those planted when the Moon was in Cancer or Scorpio had a higher germination rate than plantings done when the Moon was in Leo or Sagittarius.  For example, when tomatoes were sown when the Moon was in Cancer, the germination was 90 per cent; yet when sown while the Moon was in Leo, germination rate was only 58 per cent – a significant difference.  This makes sense to astrology believers, for in astrology the signs Cancer and Scorpio are watery signs, hence are fertile.  On the other hand, Leo and Sagittarius are barren signs because they are fiery in nature.

Transplanting by the Moon

Not satisfied, Dr. Timmins performed another experiment:  He took some of the plants that had been sown during the Cancer and Leo periods and transplanted them at a more specific time:  when the Moon was now waxing (increasing) in Cancer.  All of the seedlings survived.  But when he transplanted more seedlings when the Moon was waning (decreasing) in Sagittarius, none of them survived.

Dr. Timmins further discovered that the Cancer-sown tomato plants blossomed earlier than their Leo-sown counterparts; that they grew almost twice as large; that their fruits ripened sooner and that these were larger and greater in number by almost 50 per cent than the others.

Test It Yourself

Long-time gardeners and farmers in the country have long known of (or believed in, depending on how you look at it) the power of the Moon over nature.  But nothing is more convincing than personal, hands on gardening.  You can learn to garden by the Moon using an annual moon signs book. Don’t just use any almanac though. These may use the heliocentric (and wrong) positions of the moon. Use a book that follows the geocentric positioning used in astrology.  As Dr. Timmins found, those scientific tests that showed no connection between the Moon and gardening had used incorrect data.  To test lunar gardening for yourself, make sure you use the correct data. Seeing — and tasting — is believing.

Bonsai is an ancient art form that has been practised in Japan and China for hundreds of years. Over time certain styles and preferences have evolved as good practice in bonsai tree design.

When creating a look for your own bonsai tree, it’s best to pick one preferred viewing angle and stick to it. Perhpas it could be an angle that offers the most graceful, tapering view of the trunk, an attractive arrangement of branches or an interesting view of the root structure. This will become the front view. When looking at the tree from the front view, you should envision your eye level being half way up the trunk of the tree.

To create a nicely balanced bonsai design, there are three main sections of the tree to consider in relation to each other and to the container: the trunk, the root spread, and the branches.

The branches form the overall shape or silhouette of the tree, and you should aim for a spiral arrangement of branches going up and around the tree. The heaviest layer of branches should be the first one, which should appear about a third of the way up the trunk. Like the trunk, each branch should taper towards the end. Branches can be pruned and trained with wires to achieve a pleasing shape.

The trunk should taper towards the top of the tree, and the angle and line of the trunk should be clearly visible. Interestingly textured and coloured bark adds character to the tree, with a more mature, weathered look.

Character and maturity can also be added by exposing an interesting root formation. For a balanced look, the roots should extend out from the tree in many different directions, giving an appearance of age and stability.

Of course it’s possible to find a pleasing shape and design in many ready grown bonsai trees for sale, but the process of applying your own unique creativity to the tree begins once you can start caring for it yourself.

Although there are different kinds of light fixtures for different parts of your home, recessed lighting is one of the most popular choices you will find in modern homes. This is mainly because recessed lights help to present a clean, industrial-type look. This style of lighting can also blend in with many different motifs and decorative styles. Recessed lights help illuminate the room in a dramatic way and reduce the cluttered appearance that many other light fixtures promote.

If you are planning to install this type of lighting in your home there are several things that you should know before you get started. Here are a few of the most essential recessed lighting layout tips:

•    Know first if your ceiling is solid enough to handle recessed lights. If your ceiling’s drywall is old or has been damaged by moisture it may be easier to replace the entire ceiling and start from scratch. If the drywall feels soft and starts to crumble as you cut the hole for the light it is a good sign that the ceiling should be replaced.

•    Recessed lights may be installed in certain areas to produce certain effects. If you install the lights in straight lines it may end up making your home feel like an office or a commercial building. Some homeowners like this effect, but it won’t work well in older homes. A round or octagonal pattern can help produce a more homey feel, but be careful not to overdo it.

•    Aside from brightening up a room, recessed lights can also be used to focus on certain objects such as plants or decorative items. A recessed light in the corner of the room to illuminate a specific spot is an interior design trick that can be used to great effect.

•    Make sure to use the right type of bulb for your particular space. There are several different kinds of bulbs, such as incandescent and halogen lights. The halogen type is the perfect choice if you only are installing 3 to 4 recessed lights in a room as halogen is typically as bright as 3 to 4 regular bulbs combined.

Do you love the sensibility and clean look of modern Scandinavian furniture, but not a fan of the ultra-minimalism that seems to have become a defining feature of the style? Consider adding a few Gustavian pieces – a style that was developed in Scandinavia to simplify the popular look of Louis XIV while making beautiful furniture accessible to those on a budget.

The Gustavian style is simple to pull off at home – you can even integrate pieces into many existing decor themes. The use of light is extremely important, so Gustavian homes use pale colors like pastel blue, beige, tan, cream, and lots of white to reflect as much sun as possible. Drapery is kept to a minimum, and hidden storage is a must to accomplish the un-cluttered look. Crystal chandeliers are popular, but can be substituted with any simple modern pendant to bring the room up-to-date.

As long as you love simple, refined spaces filled with elegance and history, Gustavian-inspired interior design ideas may serve you well.

Identifying Gustavian-Style Furniture

Imagine your favorite IKEA furniture, but with a little more ornamentation and texture. Instead of blocks and geometry, the Gustavian focuses on elegant, organic lines. Furniture is designed to allow as much light as possible to illuminate the room – through the use of open-backed chairs and breezy dish hutch racks, for example.

Worn, chipping paint is a desirable feature in this kind of Scandinavian furniture.  Gustavian furnishings are often made of light, soft woods, usually with hand carved or painted details. These painted details were an economical way to mimic more expensive pieces, a process that can inspire many one-of-a-kind home decorating ideas.

Be prepared to experiment with many DIY aging techniques – Gustavian is such a popular style that an authentic piece can fetch an outrageous price tag. Thankfully, a large part of this Gustavian Scandinavian furniture is the simplicity and hand-crafted details, making this look a great candidate for many weekend projects to come.

Showers are traditionally enclosed in curtains and translucent doors, but a third option that’s been gaining traction in the United States is the shower screen. A shower screen often looks like little more than a tall sheet of glass that’s magically balanced on the ledge of a bathtub or shower enclosure, or suspended from the wall at only one edge, ostensibly defying gravity. This “floating glass” look gives the the whole bathroom the appearance of a fully open space, which accounts for the increasing popularity of shower screens among remodelers.

Shower screens can be frameless or semi-framed. A frameless screen is only attached at one edge vis-a-vis a pair of hinges screwed into the tiled wall. A semi-frameless screen gets extra support from its bottom edge, using a continuous hinge the runs long the ledge of the shower or tub. So there is no metal outline along at least two edges.

Choosing between frameless and semi-frameless shower screens is a matter of aesthetics, standards for water containment, and hardware requirements. Since screens weigh up to 72 lbs., it’s ideal if the wall that support a frameless shower screen has a stud behind the area where the hinges are to be mounted. This is less of an issue with semi-framed screens. Semi-framed versions are also better at containing shower spray due to the bottom edge support, but even frameless screens to a reasonable job at containing spray if they’re far enough away from the shower head.

Aside from visual appeal, shower screens have other advantages. They’re completely quiet to enter and exit, unlike sliding doors that roll unlike sliding doors that roll along railings, curtain hooks that scrap along rods, and swinging doors that thud against ledges. Since most versions only run along half the length of tub ledges and walk in shower enclosures, users can enter the tub or shower without having to move anything aside. Shower screens are also much easier to clean, since they don’t have railings rust, breed mold, or collect soap scum. Cleaning is just a matter of wiping down the glass, making shower screens a low maintenance alternative to conventional shower doors.

If you have a small bedroom, it might be difficult to fit all your stuff inside it. One ingenious solution is to make use of the substantial space beneath the mattress. This can easily be achieved by placing drawers in this gap. Some might think that beds with storage would be uncomfortable or unsightly, but that is hardly the case as there are several elegant and smart designs to choose from.

Most bed frames are made of wood, a material which has proven its versatility for many generations. It looks great and it can be adapted to a broad range of styles. It’s not hard to look for a wooden bed with drawers sporting a distinctive design. Cherry, oak, bamboo, poplar, and maple are the most popular varieties because of their beauty and durability. Aside from wood, metals are also used as they make strong frames. Upholstery can be accomplished with leather, cloth, suede and other materials.

Smaller sized beds can accommodate storage on one side, whereas the bigger sizes can have both sides lined with drawers. The frame can either be composed of sturdy wooden boards or steel with slats.

An alternative when shopping for adjustable beds for sale, would be to get beds with lift up storage. These feature hydraulic mechanisms to lift up the mattress and reveal the space at the bottom for storing items. They could open from the foot of the bed or have it sideways. This design is better for bedrooms that are so small that drawers at the sides cannot be opened fully.

There are also hybrid designs that combine these two concepts: a lifting mechanism and storage drawers. These are typically made of stainless steel.

Beds with storage drawers can found in different styles. Some have a canopy while others feature a loft, etc. They come in an assortment of materials and colors.

If you own a fireplace, you should consider purchasing a fireplace screen door. It is a screen designed to cover the opening of the fireplace. This is very important for a number of reasons. First and foremost, there is safety. It is important to keep embers and sparks inside the fireplace and prevent them from flying out so that there is no fire hazard. A fireplace screen also prevents other materials from falling in or catching fire from being too close. The fireplace screen is important for safety, and it can be an aesthetically attractive part of interior decoration as well.

There are different styles of fireplace screens. The three most basic and common designs are partitioned screens, screens with hinged doors, and pull chain screen styles. Partitioned screens are set around the fireplace, and are typically divided into 2-4 sections which are hinged together. This way, adjusting the doors to any position you want is easy and you can leave them folded up when not in use. They will also cover the entire fireplace opening without being placed too close. Another style is hinged door screens. As their name describes, these are screens with doors that open and close, which allow you to easily tend the fire. The third most common style is the pull-chain fire screen. These screens hang down like curtains over the fireplace, and are slid to one side or pulled together with a chain. These have the advantage of being easily custom-fitted to any fireplace.

Fireplace screen doors are made from various materials – typically metals such as iron, brass, copper or steel, but there are also glass coverings as well.

The price of a fireplace screen door varies widely. Depending on the size, style, and construction of the fireplace screen, you can buy a cheap model for around $80. Standard size and quality will cost from $150 to $200. There are higher quality models as well which go into several hundred dollars, and up to about $800 maximum.

The process of building a pool involves a serious amount of consideration and planning. In order to understand what expenses to expect we will review everything from pool options, constructions, and any additional costs. Please keep reading so you can make a more informed decision.

Construction

It’s a good idea to understand what the construction process looks like to have a clear image of the expenses involved. The first thing you need to do is choose a design. Consider shape, depth, and any other customization you would like. After you set your mind to the type of pool you would like, it’s time to call a pool installer. He should be able to inform you about any regulations in your city. Generally speaking, it can be an annual permit ranging from $500-$700, and perhaps a $1000 initial inspection.

As construction begins they need to excavate and finalize the installation. What this means is that there will be electrical and plumbing services required besides the pool itself. At a first glance inground pool prices can seem high, but if you understand the construction process you know where your money goes.

Choosing between fiberglass and concrete

If you decide to install a prefabricated pool it may be considerably less expensive. For example, a 15′ x 30′ square can cost around $8000. Fiberglass inground pools tend to be very resistant, and have good durability.

Another choice is to have a concrete pool. There are two options. First, you can have a sand or concrete floor covered by a vinyl liner. The price for this ranges from $18,000-$20,000 for a 15 x 30′ pool. The other option is to have walls and floor made out of Gunite, which is a type of concrete used for pool construction. This may cost around $25,000-$30,000.

Additional costs to consider

After you have your pool you should factor in the costs of treatments and chemicals for water. Running the filter will cause a rise in your electricity bill, and so will swimming pool lights. You might want to have your pool covered with tile, which can cost couple of thousand dollars extra. Lastly, you should also consider heating if you wish to add it.

In addition to the costs of construction and maintenance, swimming pool can also require your time and attention. this is a process that should not be too difficult to grasp, and dealing with maintenance is much better than having other problems such as algae growth or waterborne illnesses. In return for your hard work you’ll get a great source of fun for your friends and family.

Water damage is a common issue for many homes. In most cases, the damage is caused by faulty piping so it is imperative that homeowners find the right fix quickly to stop any further damage to their homes. The most effective remedy is to find a reliable company in the field that has well-trained personnel and the right equipment to do the job. Although homeowners may be tempted to fix the problem themselves, doing so may not totally solve the problem and may even make it worse.

There are three categories of water damage based on the severity of the damage and the level of contamination. Category 1 involves a leakage at the water source.  Under the Light category, the liquid has not seeped in, mixed with or contaminated any other areas such as floor coverings or parts of the building such as the walls or decking. The combination of temperature and time can cause the water to degrade, resulting in formation of microorganisms. Gushing water pipes is one example of this problem.

Category 2 or Medium Level damage involves some contamination. This may occur if the water has come into contact with a building material. If consumed by humans, the water can cause distress or sickness. Again, the water can degrade even further if a significant amount of temperature is applied over time.

The last is Category 3, also known as the Severe form of water damage.  Water under these conditions has been highly contaminated, resulting in serious ailments or death if consumed.  Examples include flood water from a river, ground water puddles and sewage.

A combination of multiple conditions can make it easier for microorganisms to form and degrade water faster. Some other factors include an organic food source such as wood or paper, high levels of moisture, moderate temperature, stagnant air and time. Hiring the right professionals such as Rainbow International is necessary to control the formation of microorganisms, reduce water damage and ultimately fix the home in proper fashion.

Some homeowners make painting a home yourself look easy. For others it’s just easier to hire a professional to get the job done right the first time. And then there are those who just aren’t sure whether to hire a professional or do it themselves because they’d prefer to save money.

When it comes to painting your house, it not only makes your home look beautiful, it can also raise the value of it. However, when a homeowner who chooses to paint their own home, has very little knowledge of what they’re doing, it’s best left to house painters who are experts at their job.

It’s unfortunate that many homeowners end up trying to paint their home themselves only to wind up with disastrous results. And when they’re trying to sell their home, often times they end up having to call in a professional to correct their mistakes.

For example, professional interior house painters will know to use a primer in some cases. A professional painter will also know not to paint over a varnished surface without preparing the surface. They will also know what type of caulk can be used on an area that is to be painted. And, a professional house painter will know that removing all loose and peeling paint is a must before painting over the surface.

But what many homeowners don’t understand is that when you try to correct a paint problem yourself, it can actually cause more harm than good and can even create enough damage that the surface must be repaired or replaced. And even if a homeowner does have enough knowledge to paint their home, it’s almost impossible to do a long lasting job without professional tools and equipment.

So in many cases it’s better to hire a professional which will allow you to increase the value of your home and get the job done right the very first time. Otherwise, you may end up having to spend more than what you wanted to if you realize you’ll need to hire a professional painter to clean up your mess.

Ultimately, the decision will be your own.  However, remember this, with all that has been said, if you still believe that you can take time out of your already busy schedule and have enough want and desire to do it yourself, at the very least do your research and buy the right tools for the job. Otherwise, it’s best left to the professionals.

These days hardwood is one of the most popular kitchen flooring options. They are absolutely gorgeous and complement the kitchen furniture and cupboards very beautifully. However this stunning floor can be very sensitive to damage and if not properly cleaned and maintained it can very easily be damaged beyond repair. So to save the loss and keep the floor in the best possible condition it is very important to know how to maintain and clean them properly.

In order to maintain a kitchen hardwood flooring in the best possible condition it needs to be swept and cleaned regularly. However you need to be very cautious when cleaning hardwood floors. Only floor cleaning solutions and products made out of natural ingredients should be used to clean hardwood floors. They are much gentler and safer on the wood and also on your skin. Unlike chemicals, natural ingredient solutions will not strip the wood of its rich look.

You should never use harsh chemicals to clean hardwood or any type of wooden floors. This includes those popular ammonia cleaners. Chemicals like these damage wooden floors in multiple ways. They will not only dull the finish of the wood but also leave a film or residue on the floor which will prevent you from being able to restore the floor by re-coating it.

And when cleaning, it is better if you can dilute the natural cleaning products by adding a bit of warm water. Diluting with water will make them even more suitable for the floor as well as make the product last longer resulting in more money savings. When applying them, the cleaning solutions should be applied using a soft cloth or sponge. Hard or scratchy materials or scrubbers can leave scuffs or marks on the floor which will be impossible to be rid of. If there are any stains that don’t go off like this, then leave a bit of the cleaning solution on them for a couple of hours and rinse it off.

These are some of the essential things you need to know about cleaning kitchen hardwood floors. I hope they help you keep your kitchen floor in great condition for a long time.

Most people aware of cork flooring understand the obvious benefits of using the material.  Cork flooring is a great insulator.  It provides excellent sound proofing qualities.  It is an environmentally sound product.  However, there are other benefits of cork flooring that are the lesser known, but equally important, benefits.  Items such as sanitation, durability, and workability are among the top of the lesser known benefits.

Cork flooring is a naturally hypoallergenic substance.  It is resistant to many allergen factors such as moisture and mildew.  For homeowners that are conscientious of family needs, this is a huge plus.  It reduces the susceptibility to known allergens that create problems for many sensitive people.  For people with children, this reduces the risk of congestion or irritations from being on the floor.

Cork flooring is resistant to insects and germs without prior or continued treatments.  Considering hardwoods, which are prone to termite damage, this element is of great interest to people looking at new flooring.  Because of cork flooring’s cellular composition, bugs cannot live in or feed from the material.

Cork flooring is highly durable.  It is a soft substance, which means that heavy furniture will leave indentations in the material.  However, when the weight is removed, the material returns to its natural shape.  Because of this factor, cork flooring tends to outlast its hardwood competitors.

Lastly, cork flooring is a highly workable material.  Because of its soft make-up, the tiles or planks are easy to cut.  This makes installation an easy process for any person regardless of flooring experience.  Because it is easy to size, cork flooring is an excellent choice for rooms where the architectural structure includes irregular angles and curves.  As well, the easier a material is to cut, the less waster there is and the amount of time spent preparing to install is shortened.

The obvious attributes to the use of cork flooring are reason enough to consider installing this flooring option.  However, the list of benefits does not stop with sustainability, insulation, and sound proofing.  Considering its ability to ward off germs, insects, and allergens is in important factor.  As well, looking at the material’s durability and easy-to-use benefit, make this option considerably more appealing for many homeowners.  Simply research cork flooring to discover how the product is made, where is come from, how it is installed, and options for design and color.  The versatility of cork flooring makes it a brilliant choice.

A garden pond is a charming addition to a yard adding both color and movement. However, it is not as simple as filling a pool and adding the most attractive fish in the store. A garden pond is its own ecosystem so an informed choice of pond fish is required. While there are several options for fish the two most popular choices are Koi and Goldfish. Due to their durability and bright colors these have remained the main breeds for a pond. There are two main factors that need to be considered when choosing between them: pond size and pond plants

Pond size
The choice between Koi and Goldfish largely depends on the size of the pond. Koi can routinely grow to a size of two feet while Goldfish tend to become no larger than one foot. If the pond is large then both fish are a viable option as they have no problem coexisting. If the pond is small then it would be limited to either Goldfish or a small number of Koi. A large pond offers a wider array of fish that can be placed but at the expense of a larger footprint for the pond.

Pond plants

Adding pond plants gives more colour and detail giving your water garden a more natural look. Some plants even act as oxygenators which can be used in place of an oxygen pump. They can provide shade for the fish and cover to hide under to help protect from predatory birds. While some of these plants help keep the fish safe not all the plants are safe from the fish. Koi are known to destroy plants in their ponds so if the pond is meant to double as a garden then Goldfish may be the better choice.

Caring for Pond Fish

Caring for pond fish is fairly simple. Since the pond is outdoors there is minimal care needed for the fish. While they do eat the algae that will grow in the pond regular feeding is still needed. Debris and sludge can be removed from the pond but be wary of excessive cleaning. Goldfish and Koi are cold water fish which means that they can remain in the pond even during winter provided that a hole is kept open in the ice to allow gas to escape.

Keeping these simple tips in mind will help create a vibrant and long lasting pond for years of enjoyment.

Stacking Chairs

If you do a lot of entertaining or have a big event coming up, there’s a good chance you will want to have stacking chairs on hand. These chairs come in many styles and looks, so whatever your price point is, you can find something that works for your event. Whether you need something elegant for a big party or if you just need something simple so that you always have extra chairs on hand, stacking chairs work nicely.

Why They Are Useful

Stacking chairs are lightweight, and as the name suggests, easily stackable. This makes storing and transporting these chairs quite simple. You can always have extra seating on hand, stored out of sight when you don’t need them. These types of chairs are also designed to be comfortable, so that’s another reason to invest in a few.

Stacking Chair Styles

What kinds of styles are available for stacking chairs? There are quite a few different looks available. You can find different materials available, such as plastic or wood chairs. Metal stacking chairs are also an option. You can also choose among many different designs, some quite contemporary and modern, and others quite classic. You can find small stacking chairs for children, chairs designed for business or office use, and still others meant to be in your stylish home. It all depends on the style you want and what you need the chairs for.

Here are some great options for stacking chairs:

Rent or buy?

Does it make more sense to rent or buy your chairs? That all depends on what you will be using them for. If you are planning one big event and will only need the chairs for one day or evening, then renting probably makes more sense, especially if you need hundreds of chairs. There are many companies out there that rent out chairs. But if your party is small, or if you plan on hosting multiple parties or events, then you might want to look into buying your own set of chairs. Then you’ll always have extra seating if you need it.

Choosing to Buy – Considerations

If you buy your chairs, what do you need to know? First, you need to think about what you’ll be using your chairs for. A fancy event? For your weekly book club meetings? For indoor or outdoor use? Answering basic questions about your needs can help you narrow down what you’re looking for.

You will also want to keep in mind the style you are hoping to achieve. Wood stacking chairs look very different from metal or plastic stacking chairs. And chairs designed for an office will look very different from the chairs designed for a patio setting. Whether your home is classic, modern, or a little off-beat, you should be able to find a chair to match your look.

The last thing to think about is the price. You will of course want to buy chairs that you’re happy with, but you probably don’t have an unlimited budget, either. Give yourself a realistic budget range, and then look for a good deal and get the best chairs that you can get for your budget.

Stacking chairs aren’t for everyone. If you are only hosting one big event, you probably want to rent and not buy. But they are great chairs that are very versatile and add extra seating while being easily stacked away and stored. They can add to your elegant home decor as well.

Satin sheets add a luxurious touch to your bedroom. There are many styles and colors to choose from, and their silky-feel can be comforting. Unfortunately, many people are put off by satin sheets because they are unsure of how to care for them. There are many advantages to buying designer sheets instead of cotton or nylon sheets. Here are just a few reasons to try designer sheets.

Bedding with the Look of Luxury

Designer sheets are beautiful to look at. Their reflective nature can make your bedroom look like the luxury bedding in a hotel room. Complete the look by using complimentary bedding pieces such as a satin comforter or satin pillowcases.

Silky Smooth Sheets

On a hot summer’s evening it can be easier to get comfortable with satin sheets as they have a cooler feel. Their cool touch will help you feel refreshed at the end of a hard day. Satin fabric reduces frictional damage to the skin, and some doctors say that using satin bedding will reduce skin wrinkling.

Caring for your Satin Bed Linen

Satin bedding can be laundered just like regular bedding. Strip the sheets off the bed once a week. Wash in your washing machine with a cup-full of laundry detergent. Run the machine on the warm cycle. Help your sheets stay wrinkle-free by drying them quickly after they have been washed. Don’t leave them in the machine as they will crease. Most satin sheets can be tumble dryed. Or you could hang them on a clothes line.

Buying Bedding

Shopping online is a great way to buy you satin linens. With a much greater varity available than you would find in stores, you’ll be sure to find sheets that compliment your bedroom decor. Sheets with appliques all around the edges look pretty. For a better quality feel, choose a closer weave sheet.

Satin sheets make a great gift as a wedding present, house-warming gift, or even to treat yourself. If you love elegant home decor, this type of sheet is a must.

While most people agree on a portable hot tub’s ability to sooth aching muscles and to provide amazing relaxation, many of them also agree that these personal spas cost too much to operate. However, modern hot tubs are far more efficient than their predecessors and use less electric power to run than you may think. In fact, by applying a few energy conserving tips, hot tubs have little effect on residential energy consumption.

Aware of how the public perceived hot tub energy use, hot tub manufacturers and industry experts appointed independent researchers and laboratories to investigate and test actual in-home spa energy consumption.

The Association of Pool and Spa Professionals hired a Boston, Massachusetts consulting firm to study the effects of portable hot tub energy use in homes. The firm found that portable hot tubs accounted for less than 1 percent of the energy consumed in residential homes. The researchers based their calculations on the spa owner using the hot tub 16 times monthly (about once every other day) for 20 minutes. According to the study, at 10 cents per kilowatt, a typical portable hot tub costs about $22 per month to operate (not accounting for any additional hot tub accessories that one may own). At seven cents per kilowatt, the national average, this drops to $15 monthly, which means that a water heater or a color television set costs more to operate than a hot tub.

An energy program at Washington State University estimates that an average, energy-efficient hot tubs consumes between five and seven kilowatts per day, while an older poorly insulated spa could use more than double that amount. Obviously the cost of this usage will vary regionally depending on the cost of electricity. Also, differences in climate will affect how long the spa’s heater must run to maintain the set temperature – this is why a well fitting spa cover is so important as it will help retain a lot of the spas heat.

The Washington State University Cooperative Extension Energy Program estimates that an average-sized, energy-efficient hot tub consumes five to seven kilowatts daily. An older, poorly insulated spa could use up to 18 kilowatts per day. The amount of money this equates to will vary since electricity costs differ regionally. In addition, climactic disparities affect how long the hot tub heater must run to maintain the optimal temperature. Hot tubs also won’t detract from your elegant home decor.

If you are thinking of buying storage systems for your home, I would recommend considering storage cubes if you want something that can really beautify your home while adding storage capacity at the same time. I am sure anybody with a new home would want it to look the best, especially if there are friends and families who would visit often. Unlike other storage systems such as chrome wire shelves, storage cubes have wide ranging styles and designs that can cater to any look which you want to create. If you want your visitors to be impressed with your home decor, definitely consider storage cubes as your option.

When deciding on what kind of cubes to buy, one of the most important consideration is the current color scheme of your home. It is always more advisable to pick a strong color that already exist in your home so that the colors can flow more consistently throughout the room. For example, if you have a red wall painting, it is good to pick some red storage cubes to achieve the complementary look. In fact, bright colors are also good for homes with monotone colors as it can help to break up the monotony and achieve a contrasting feel without over powering the entire theme of your house.

In addition to aesthetics, storage cubes also have a lot of useful accessories that makes it easier to decorate with. One such useful accessory is the door add on. This simple item will allow home owners to ‘hide’ what are the stored items within the cubes and thereby creating a more tidier and neater appearance. There is also the add on wheels that can enable the cubes to be portable. This will make your life easier when it comes to experimenting with different placements of the storage cubes as they can be moved around quite easily. Imagine moving your bulky bookshelf around to test its placement!
